MITT ROMNEY, THE NEW JEFF FLAKE???

1046

No sooner do we lose one RINO in the Senate than damned if we don’t gain another.  And so it would seem that the harder we try, the behinder we seem to get. And now for the next six years we will now have to deal with conservative turncoat, failed presidential candidate and now U.S. Senator, Mitt Romney.  As you may have heard Romney recently took to the op-ed page of the Washington Post, not to tell us how he intends to work with the president to the benefit of the American people, but to do nothing more than to slam President Trump.  His little rant was entitled: “The president shapes the public character of the nation. Trump’s character falls short.”

The hypocritical Mr. Romney began his pathetic screed saying, “The Trump presidency made a deep descent in December.”  He acknowledged his opposition to Trump in the 2016 presidential election, actually claiming that he had early hope for Trump’s presidency, then lamented that “on balance, his conduct over the past two years, particularly his actions this month, is evidence that the president has not risen to the mantle of the office.”  I did think it odd that we would have a man who possesses so very little character himself actually seeing it as appropriate to criticize that of another.   But then knowing the man as we all do, we shouldn’t be surprised.

Romney did acknowledge the fact that President Trump had enacted “policies mainstream Republicans have promoted for years.” He praised aligning “U.S. corporate taxes with those of global competitors,” deregulation, cracking down on China’s “unfair” trade practices, criminal justice reform, and appointments of conservative judges.  But it was in pretty short order that he then went on to assail Trump’s character: “With the nation so divided, resentful and angry, presidential leadership in qualities of character is indispensable. And it is in this province where the incumbent’s shortfall has been most glaring.”

And it was in moving on to American economic and military leadership in the world, and apparently citing supposed polling data, that Romney said, “Trump’s words and actions have caused dismay around the world.” And it was also according to Romney that, “To reassume our leadership in world politics, we must repair failings in our politics at home.”  And he went on to say, “That project begins, of course, with the highest office once again acting to inspire and unite us. It includes political parties promoting policies that strengthen us rather than promote tribalism by exploiting fear and resentment.”  I’m ashamed to admit that I ever voted for this scumbag.

Romney called for “setting a course to a balanced budget” and linking arms with other nations. He suggested, as the U.K. moves to leave the European Union, “We want a unified and strong Europe, not a disintegrating union. We want stable relationships with the nations of Asia that strengthen our mutual security and prosperity.”  The failed 2012 Republican presidential nominee relentlessly lambasted Trump during the 2016 presidential election. Yet when the 2018 midterm elections came and Romney made his way to Utah to run for the U.S. Senate, President Trump chose to endorse him and Romney chose to accept.  Why would he do that?

Also in his op-ed Romney stated he looked forward to working with fellow RINO Mitch McConnell, but warned that when it comes to the president, “I will speak out against significant statements or actions that are divisive, racist, sexist, anti-immigrant, dishonest or destructive to democratic institutions.”  He said, “I do not intend to comment on every tweet or fault. But I will speak out against significant statements or actions that are divisive, racist, sexist, anti-immigrant, dishonest or destructive to democratic institutions.”  In going to this extreme Romney, again, only served to further his reputation as being someone to whom very little respect is owed.

After all, in Romney we have someone who’s just another run-of-the-mill gutless wonder.  He chose to run in a safe Utah seat rather than in Massachusetts, where he had once been governor, and might actually have helped Republicans by taking on a Democrat presidential contender.  And as I mentioned earlier he’s a guy who sought, and then accepted, President Trump’s endorsement for Senate in 2018.  Romney has a rather long history of being little more than a backstabber, especially when it comes to President Trump.  I can’t help but wonder if it might be a case of envy more than anything else. Perhaps if he had been a bit like Trump in 2012 he might have won.

‘Romney the RINO’ is a dinosaur, and as such he’s not what we need.  He’s spineless and has an over-inflated sense of importance.  Add to that he’s a weakling who can be easily persuaded by money and power.  It has been on any number of occasions that he has revealed himself to be disloyal to those who choose to support him. And it is to this day that I believe he could have easily have won in 2012 but instead chose to simply roll over by refusing to challenge that fat cow of an inquisitor in the second debate who was so obviously in the tank for Barry. He very clearly had the upper hand up to that point, which is the main reason I’ve ALWAYS believed he threw the race.

Romney made his millions not through innovation, the building of great structures, or even by starting new companies.  Instead he made his fortune by outsourcing jobs and simply shutting down businesses that dared to disagree with his “business model”.  Romney never started an enterprise nor did he create jobs. President Trump’s accomplishments can be seen all over New York and around the world.  Romney destroyed communities by shutting down industries. Trump’s investments resulted in the rebirth of once blighted areas.  That said, Romney is precisely the type of ‘elitist globalist parasite’ that we already have far too many of serving in government.

Character is something that is measured in loyalty. And while Romney is completely devoid of that specific trait, President Trump has it in spades, perhaps even to a fault. America needs a hero, however flawed he may be. It’s far better than subjugation at the hands socialist thugs. RINOs like Romney either don’t understand, of refuse to recognize what we’re dealing with here.  Republicans who behave like Romney are exactly why Democrats continue to win elections. Many conservatives no longer trust the Republicans because, while they aren’t actively insane like the Democrats, they have earned their reputation for double-crossing their constituents.

Romney could have written about the goals he wished to accomplish in the Senate and his alignment with Trump’s national priorities. Unity over division in times of crisis, Romney is the Summer Soldier!  Romney will be little more than an obscure footnote in the history of this great country. He has no accomplishments and he is a carpet-bagging RINO.  I find bizarre how RINO’s continue to attack a member of their own party, yet, we hear nary a peep about those in the Democrat Party whose goal remains the destruction of this country’s, our way of life, the elimination of our freedoms, and their embrace of socialist policies that have never EVER worked.

Those interested in documenting an accurate history of our country will not be fooled by the hateful noise from a dishonest press that ignores the great many successes of President Trump, including the best economy in most of our lifetimes, or that tries to parlay normal events, such as the removing of a small amount of troops in a measured way or rewriting trade deals, as though they are the end of the world. Every day the propaganda arm of ‘The Swamp’ continues to generate that which is little more than ‘fake news’ by way of manufactured ‘crisis’, and trying to make it stick, until the next day when the next new manufactured crisis is presented as news.

Trump will absolutely be measured by his policy successes or failures, although historians will chuckle at and vividly recount his bold colors, just as they do the same for very other colorful president for whom they have no personal bias for or against.  Not only does Trump have to overcome a corrupt Democrat Party and a ‘fake news’ media, he must also contend with those in the Republican Party who have long called ‘The Swamp’ home. You would think that there would be an overwhelming number of those in the Republican Party standing firmly behind the president as he continues to actually make good on many of the promises that got him elected in the first place.

President Trump is working on behalf of the American people, something that very few politicians rarely do.  Most politicians are little more appeasing bundlers, working to get reelected, subservient to a globalist agenda, preening for the history books, looking to be serviced under their desk or prepping for their next job. President Trump is the first president since Ronald Reagan that has focused on delivering on his campaign promises. Which by the way, is a conservative agenda.  Now I know that he has yet to deliver on ‘The Wall’ but I would argue that that has less to do with the president than with those of his own party.  You know, those just like Romney.
